I talked to Suyappa today and she, Sister Eleanor, and Sandy will send a listing of needed items, I will then past this information on to you.
Cruzado staff reports that the pastors of their churches have been asking if there is any possibility of "any little thing" they could have to give out to the kids of their churches.
I specifically asked Suyappa about the shoe box program. She says they will pass out the boxes to the churches that are the poorest and the local pastor then open the boxes and distribute the contents to the most needy. In the past I misunderstood about the boxes - all agree they are very badly needed.
Larry Pitts reports that the shoe box program is all most of the kids in the rural area get for Christmas. Expect more information on the shoe box program coming from Rev. Ray Crump and Sister Eleanor in the near future.
What to do now? Decide if you want to participae as a team. The team cost is $400. If your team doesn't want to participate, that doesn't mean individuals cannot participate on their own. For this reason, if your team says no, then please offer individuals an opportunity to work on their own. If an individual wants to participate on their own, $50 will put them in the program. So far, all the teams I have heard from either said they would or that some individual on the team wanted to help. Occording to Jane Cox as long as we get the necessary money up to send down the container, it will be a go. We are already off to a good start and expect to meet our goal.
Keep the container in your prayers,
Make a decision about participating either as a team or as individuals
