This is a hard one. Let me say that David, Sandi, Douglas and Corina are on salary by the CHHF so they are paid all year even when no one is at the clinic. David also receives $100 from each team for his extra work involved with traveling with the teams. We also tell people that if Corina does personal wash for them she should be paid around $3-5 per person for the extra work. Under Honduran law anyone who works 12 months for you has to be paid 2 extra months pay so they receive 14 months pay each year. What we have done is have some (me) have envelopes with the different names on and let people put whatever amount they want into which ever ones they would like to give a love offering to. That way if they feel Corina was a big help to them they can give her something and maybe just a little to Douglas. Most team members pay their own way and some are quite limited with extra funds so this is a good way to help those folks out. As far as what I would think is appropriate from a whole team- any one who would go with you from LaCeiba for the whole time in Limon as an interpreter $100 (Eleanor). Anyone else, I would figure $1-3 per team member so $20 is a nice tip to anyone who is already being paid and there are teams there very regularly now. We do discourage large tips so they do not expect it from all teams. In fact we told teams at first not to tip but found that everyone was doing it. I hope I was a little help.
