Honduras Fund Raising Meeting

January 22, 2006



The Alabama Honduras Medical And Educational Network met with members for a Honduras Fund Raising meeting on Sunday afternoon, January 22, 2006 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with 30 interested individuals. Dr. Tom Camp called the meeting to order and Richard Bowie opened with prayer and blessed the food that had been prepared. Dr. Camp gave thanks to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church for hosting the event and had each participant to introduce himself or herself. There are four projects that will benefit from the fund raising event of a Silent Auction and o'dours are as follows:

Drain Swamp/Sewing School – Pointe Pierda

Soup Kitchen – Limon

Soup Kitchen – LaCeiba

New Building for Sewing School – Limon

There are four teams willing to work for the fund raising event and they are as follows:

Team A. Mt. Vernon Team - Pointe Pierda

Team B. Linda Norris Team - Limon Sewing School Building

Team C. Danny Arnold Team - Soup Kitchen-Limon

Team D. Lexie Hilton Team - Soup Kitchen-LaCeiba

Decisions were made concerning the amount that would be charged for tickets to attend the event, where the event would be held, how many tickets to sell and how to divide the funds that will be raised. Decisions are as follows:

$15.00 per ticket to attend the event

Unlimited amount of tickets will be sold

Mt. Vernon Baptist Church will host the event

Each team works for their project and items brought by team members will be marked accordingly and whatever price is received at auction will go to that team member's project. Tickets will be numbered and sales received from that will go to that team member's project. A decision of selling tickets at the door at the time of the event will be decided at the next meeting.

The Silent Auction/O'dours will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Auction items may be dropped off at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and Walker Recovery Center to be held until the time of the event.

Dr. Camp encouraged everyone to begin praying about the event and get a prayer chain in action, reminding everyone that "All things are possible through God who gives us our strength". The meeting was adjourned and Dr. Camp closed with prayer.

Good Evening All,
Paulette West of the North Alabama Conference of the Methodist Church, has
scheduled a training session for all leaders and potential leaders of teams
going to Honduras and other missions this summer. The meeting will be at
the Methodist Center, B'ham Southern College, B'ham, Ala.
9 A.M. - 12 A.M.
March 4, this year.

It would be good if each team had at least two people there, more would be
better. One idea is for the leader, assistnant leadrs, and any future
leader to attend. There is no fee for the meeting. I have beent to them
before and they are great.
