Hello again Mary.
The following information was just sent to me from Honduras:
Name: Servicio de Atenciòn Integral (SAI), or Centro de Atención Integral (CAI).
The SAI in La Ceiba welcomes any HIV/AIDS positive person. The CAI exists in Trujillo, and also works with any HIV/AIDS positive person. It is necessary to submit the medical file of any person coming to these centres.
The address of the SAI in La Ceiba is: Hospital Atlántida, a cuadra y media del Estadio Municipal de Futbol.
Their telephone number is 440-0823.
I hope this information is helpful.
Blessings to you.

Roland,
Thank you for your quick response. Many of our medical teams operate within the general area of Iriona and Cruzada del Evangelo, our sponsoring church, is headquartered in La Ceiba. As a matter of fact we are this year expanding and upgrading our clinic in La Ceiba. Will the integrated support facility in La Ceiba recieve referrals from NGOs such as AHMEN? If so what is it's address and phone number?
Thanks,
Mary

Dear Mary,
Thank you for your message. CAUSE Canada only provides counselling and support groups to HIV/AIDS positive people in the area of Iriona. We refer people to an integrated support facility in La Ceiba for further attention. Please let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you.
Blessings,

Hi, Dr. Guffey,
Pray you are doing good today. The government hospital provides this. (Hospital Atlantida) The patients have to go weekly to the hospital.
Will let you know when the boy will be coming in.
Blessings!

Sandy,
The AHMEN, CHIMES, and CHHF teams do not have the resources to provide antiviral meds or curative treatment for HIV/AIDS. Is there a facility/ agency/ physician anywhere in Honduras that does provide medical treatment where we can refer our patients?
CAUSE Canada indicated there was an "integrated support facility" in La Ceiba, but did not give any other details.
The Board of World Misssions of the Moravian Church suggested we check with the Regional Health authorities whose offices are next to Hospital Atlantida also in La Ceiba.
*If you have time, would you please try to identify these organizations and any other possible sources for HIV/AIDS treatment our patients can access and send me specific contact information, name, address, email, phone number, etc., for each.
I would like to put together a booklet with referral information for all the team doctors.
The best info I have been able to find on the availability of cancer treatment was from Dra. Jacqueline Figueroa in the Honduran Office of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC). Her recommendation was to refer all cancer patients to the government funded Hospital Mario Catarino Rivas Frente Al Pedregal in San Pedro Sula which may in turn send them on to the government funded Hospital Escuela or Hospital Pelipe in Tegucigalpa.
*Is there any cancer treatment available in La Ceiba or elsewhere in northern Honduras ?
I emailed Doctora Alicia Ponce to expect the little boy, Julian Celestino, from Limon. I haven't heard if Julian has had an appointment with her, have you?
Again, thanks for any assistance you can give regarding sources for HIV/AIDS and cancer treatment .
God Bless,
Mary Guffey
