This is from Mary Guffey. Something for all of us to think about. During some of the mixer time at the Team Leaders Meeting last week, I mentioned that an aunt of one of Brad and Christie’s friends operates a "fair trade" store somewhere in North Alabama. Buckwheat expressed an interest in knowing what the fair trade movement is all about and the location of this store. I contacted the friend, and she gave me a link to the store’s web-page fairtrademarket.googlepages.com/ which has several informative links to other sites that explain what fair trade is all about. It is an interesting concept that may offer some exciting opportunities to schools like the woodworking and sewing schools if they were to develop a limited line of novelty products that were suitable for souvenirs and or exports. Anyway, I thought some of the rest of you might be interested in the topic, and if you ever find yourself in Huntsville, you might want to visit the shop at 817 Regal Drive, near the Parkway City Mall. Mary and I thought it might be a great place to do our Christmas shopping. gearthatgives.com is a fair trade/market website that I have bought items from. Artists from various countries "sell" their wares and when you purchase items, "cups of food" are also sent. A very good website for 3rd world countries. But, Honduras is not one of them at this point.
