Everyone,
My name is Matt Lacey and after this year’s annual conference I resumed the Director of Mission and Advocacy position for North Alabama. I know that those of you receiving this are among some of the strongest mission oriented congregations in the conference. Some of you have existing mission relationships with the conference, and some of you go your own way (which is great as well—keep up the good work)!
Many of you know that Missions was named a conference priority at Annual Conference this year. I wanted to ask, despite whether you work closely with the conference in matters of mission, advocacy, and outreach (or whether you work with VIM, Mission Society, or other organizations):
-What can the conference do better to equip you for the important ministry of mission and outreach?
-What has the conference been doing well (or not well) in this area?
-If you have time, take a look at the new conference “Priority: Missions” webpage to see what is missing, and what could serve you best on these pages (http://northalabamaumc.org/missions).
-Does your congregation need another kick-start in the area of mission and outreach? Need mission training? If so, how could I help?
The last thing I want to mention is on Sept 12, 2009, there will be a mission team leader training at the conference office in Birmingham. For more information on this event, click here.
I hope you will feel free to speak open and honestly about your relationship with the conference regarding mission, and hope that you will feel free to contact me at any time. Thanks!
- Matt
