Good Morning All,
Byron Moralles will be meeting with anyone interested in the AHMEN/SIFAT Initiative immediately following the Photography/web writing workshop at Christ UMC in Jasper on Jan 23. . Rick thinks the photography workshop will take in the neighborhood of 2 hours (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and we will go directly into the SIFAT program.
Byron will tell us what he has done so far, give us an overall concept of the 3 year plan, bring us up to date on contacts he has made outside of the workshop "students" them selves and explain how we can use these contacts in the future for the AHMEN/SIFAT initiative. Then, we can work out together where we go from here. As we all know, this will only work if we have the support of network of folks from AHMEN.
Feel free to bring along anyone who you think might be beneficial or interested.
Between Byron, Cruzadas, the library project, CHIMES, and other AHMEN sources, there are some 50+ people who have attended the two workshops in Cosuna and are committed to another two for this year and 4 each for the next two years.
Some of the things they are working on are:
1. developing leaders from within the local communities.
2. teaching the new leaders empowerment.
3. Identifing local needs in each community and developing solutions to these needs.
4. how to cook food without giving the children chronic bronchitis and more economically
5. how to purify water from the ideas at hand in the local environments.
Some of the questions we now need to address:
1, do we expand to other areas of Honduras
2. how to get the leaders to work with us when a team is in their village and then how to empower him/her to see that our work continues after we are gone.
3. And how to do this without us "paying for everything they do".
4. how to finance this work.
5. What role does AHMEN play in the AHMEN/SIFAT Initiative.
6. What role do you want to play in this.
so, mark your calendar.
You can kill 2 birds with one stone if you attend the Photography/web writing workshop and the AHMEN/SIFAT Initiative on Jan 23.
Please pass this on to whomever you think might be interested.
Let me know how many folks you will be bringing. Also, give each person in your team/project an opportunity to attend.
Vaya con Dios,
Tom Camp
