To: Team Leaders:
In order to help improve security when teams are present in Limon, CHHF Vice President Ken Hook talked with the Regional Police Commissioner responsible for security in one-half of Honduras, including the Limon area. He has agreed to improve the police presence when our teams are in Limon as he recognizes the tremendous value of the work you are doing in the area. Recently the Joel Edwards Team was in Limon and Joel sent the following report:
I was most pleased with the police presence. Two policemen were present just about all the time...I didn't see them for a few days because we were just so busy but several of my team members did. On Friday when we were departing, they were out and visible. I thanked them for their help during the week. Then both of them asked for medication... We were glad to oblige them. Oh, yeah, on Thursday night when we were leaving to go to the orphanage, they were testing the siren on their SUV...never heard that in Limon before.
In order to ensure that there will be a police presence when your teams are in Limon, each team leader has been asked to furnish the exact dates in which the team will be in Limon at the clinic. Please recognize that these dates must be furnished to the Police well in advance; it takes time for the emails to reach the correct police office so that the scheduling of their work and presence in Limon can be accomplished. Also, please give us feedback so we can continue to improve your security in the area.
Thank you. Chris Zawacki Team Coordinator
